LIONS move to 5-0 with 20-6 victory over Plainview

Crossville- The Crossville Lions ran their record to a perfect 5-0 mark with a 20-6 victory over the visiting Plainview Bears here Friday night. The win was also the first Area 15 contest of the season for the Lions. The Lions rushed for 235 yards in the contest.

Quarterback Gary Bouldin had a 36-yard touchdown run and a 17-yard pass for another score to Kevin Kidd in the first half as the Lions built a 20-0 lead before Plainview would score in the third quarter.

Crossville  scored on it's first drive that amassed 67 yards and took only 6 plays. Bouldin would keep the ball on an option and gallop 36 yards for the score at the 6:10 mark of the 1st quarter. Jai Eason would add the extra point.

Crossville would score right before halftime using a hurry up offense that would cover 62 yards in 6 plays. Kent Jones would have good runs of  8 and 10 yards and Bouldin would hit Rodney White for a  15-yard pick up before connecting with Kidd for the second score on the final play of the half. Eason would kick the PAT to put the Lions up 14-0 at intermission.

The Lions' Sophomore running back  Brent Cotton would score from from 4 yards out in the 3rd quarter to put the Lions up 20-0. The PAT from Eason was wide.

Stacy Chaffin would return the ensuing kickoff and return it 56 yards to set up Plainview's only score as Eddie Ledford would find Chaffin in the end zone for the score.  A bad snap led to a missed extra point attempt and would close the gap to 20-6.

The Lions controlled the clock in the 4th period to seal the victory.

Crossville will take it's No. 2  3-A State ranking to Gurley next Friday night for another Area 15 clash and try to move a step closer to the Area Title, when they take on the Madison County Tigers.
