Head coach Jim May would resign before the 1981 season would begin to take a job at Grundy County High School. That would not pan out however, and he took the job at Oneida High School. He would die on the sidelines of heart attack in the 1990's. He is still loved and remembered by all who call themselves LIONS. He would finish his career record of 51-33. He also led the Lions to it's only state playoff appearance up to that point in 1974. He won two DeKalb County Championships and 1 Area title.
