PLAYOFFS
Crossville 7 1st Round Stevenson 0 |
Rogersville 13 2nd Round Crossville 12 OT |
1st team in Crossville history to make the State Playoffs. A heartbreaking loss to eventual state champion Rogersville, ended a dream of a title. The game against Rogersville, was dominated by the Lions, who had 19 first downs to Rogersville's 7. Crossville held an edge of 238 total yards to 126 total for the Tigers.
The game ended when the Lions, trailing 13-12 in OT, elected for a go for broke two point conversion to try to end the game. A Randy Bruce pass attempt to Marty Griffin fell incomplete, and with it, the Lions hopes. Many feel Crossville would have won the 2-A title, had that play turned out differently.
I guess we'll never know. Thanks to all the 1974 Lions for their season. When you think back, you'll ALWAYS, be the first one.
