The 1927 Lions would see improvement over the 1926 team, winning 4 games in just their second season.

Crossville would defeat both Dekalb Co. High (Ft.Payne) and Etowah Co. High (Etowah) who were both football powers in this section of the state. Crossville would suffer it's worst loss of all time to Albertville, who happened to be a State Assisted Agricultural School, a junior college at the time. The game was called in the 4th quarter due to a heavy rain storm.

Crossville would also introduce a new coach, George Hulme from Georgia. He is given much credit for building the young Lions football program. He would help the team claim the 1st DeKalb Co. Championship two years later.
